Hey everyone,

I'm looking to upgrade my 396T. What is the opinions on each of these receivers? I don't want to loose any functionality that my 396T has. Must be able to program with software. Want to hear from some of the pros out there that have used the newer models.

Thanks
Paul

325P2 is the closest. 436 has more capabilities, but is larger if size is a concern. Battery life of the 325 will be about 2/3 of the 396.

I have both and they are each great in their own way. If I was picking just 1, I'd go with the 436HP because it has more features like recording, full database easily available, better battery life, better belt clip, etc.

BCD436HP BC325P2 Or 436HP?

.....better belt clip.....

I have a BCD436HP on order. since you mention the belt clip, is it similar to the BCD396XT with a clip that attaches to a metal piece on the radio? The reason I ask is because I might be inclined to use a Ram Mount to attached to the windshield and then a Clip Caddy to attach the BCD436HP to.

436hp battery life

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone used Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries in the 436hp. I'm currently using a pro 96 and am trying to get a comparison. If no one has used ultimate lithium, I'd be interested in the difference between rechargeable & alkaline.

What style belt clip is on the BCD325P2? Is it the same as the 396XT or have they gone back to the standard style belt clip like that on the older 246T?

The 396XT is the next version of the 396T, with the ability to have multiple istes on a trunked radio system along with a couple of other minor features. The 325P2 is kind of/sort of the next version of the 396XT with the addition of Phase 2 decoding and a couple of additional features.

If you used ARC 396 to program the T model, you can get ARC XT which will import the T files so they can be programmed in the 325P2. However if the system(s) you would monitor with the 325P2 have multiple sites, you'd have to enter them. Still it gives you a "head start".

It has the BC125AT style belt clip - solid to the scanner (doesn't swivel or remove).
