I'm new to the trunk scanning area - need help programming a specfic town. I put in the control freq and the four other freqs. I put the talk groups in but it is not working..possibly the talkgroups are not in correctly. I hear the FD and PD but I only want to hear the FD. The main question is I need help placing the freqs in the scanner. Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

If you hear both PD and FD, then you have the frequencies programmed correctly.

To hear only PD or FD or both, you need to place them in separate scan list. I.E., use scan list 1 and 2 for PD and 3 and 4 for FD. This leaves you with 6 unused scan list so you just as well set 5 and 6 for City Services. Page 48 in the manual (Programming Scan List Manually) will guide you through the procedure.

Once you have these list programmed, then review pages 51 and 52 for scanning the list, or how to find new ID's.

Edit: The word doc on this page Short cut may help.

Thanks Frank for the reply - I'll try but it really doesn't make sense to me. I'm good with convential scanners but the trunk are throwing me off. I'll try that download file for dummies - thanks again.Mike

Mike,
Don't confuse channel storage with I ID storage.

If you're using the  "download file for dummies" and pressed scan ofter step 21 in freq programming (which is channel storage), then start with step 1 for ID programming (which is ID storage). When you press 3 in step 5 the display should indicate Location 1-1. This is Scan List 1, ID 1. If you have the PD in this list then rotate the VFO until Location 2-1 (or 3-1 if you prefer) is on the display. Then continue at step 6 under Programming for ID's for FD ID's.
