I have checked the BC796 forum and NH's forum for this type of file. Does anyone close to Nashua have an ssd file I can clone or better yet one they can send me? I am having trouble programming a 796 and need a file to work from that has Nashua's new re-banded trunk and Manchester's EDACS if possible.

The first thing you need to do (if you haven't done it already) is download and install a firmware update from Uniden's website for that scanner to properly receive the rebanded Nashua 800MHz trunking system.

After the update, you can just "copy" each system from the RR database (or import it if you're using ARC250).

SSD file

I have fixed the re-banding on the unit and wanted a file that I could download (.ssd file) and look at it in the program I am using which is the one produced by Uniden software. That way I can see how the maps are configured. Thanks, Steve

The problem with using that old software is that it may not allow you to enter the custom table necessary for trunking Motorola rebanded systems. For many of Uniden's scanners, rebanding support is a 2 step process- both firmware and any software must be updated. The custom table is defined in our wiki, along with a few examples;

Software Support for Uniden Rebanding - The RadioReference Wiki

There are 2 packages out there that would allow you to download data from our database via the web service - ARC250 and ProScan. Scan Control has a copy/paste utility that doesn't use the web service. The links for such packages are shown here;

Uniden Legacy Software Support - The RadioReference Wiki

and the link for getting a premium subscription for downloading data is here;

Premium Subscription Information Page

Both BuTel and ProScan's authors can be found here, and they have other forums as well (ProScan has a dedicated forum on their website, for example).

Both trunks that you are searching for are defined here;

New Hampshire Trunking Systems

Alternately you can get this information - and it may be a bit more up to date (I'm not in the area) - here...

Nashua NH Trunk System - Scan New England Wiki

Manchester NH Trunk System - Scan New England Wiki

It may be possible to copy data from these wikis using BuTel's 'Paste Special' option

Best regards...Mike

SDD files

Thanks Mike that makes a lot of sense. I was trying to save some money but I don't think that will do it for me. I'll probably have to purchase one of the other programs. Anyone want to give me their 2 cents worth of which program is better for the 796? Steve

You don't need to purchase either of them just yet. You can download free trails and test them out for a few weeks. This should give you plenty of time to decide if you want to purchase one (or all) of them. The 'trial' versions are fully functional programs, they simply have a time limit on free usage.

You can download ProScan >>here<<

You can download ARC250 Basic >>here<<

You can download ARC250 Pro >>here<<

Happy Programming :)

Software

I knew they had trial versions that give you time to try them, just trying to get a feel for which one would be right for me. Does anyone know is there a comparison chart out there that compares the different versions I can look at and decide? Steve

Hi Steve:

I have a BC796D and use Proscan for programming, remote control and streaming to the RR site for my Manchester PD feed. IMO, Proscan is simply the best "all-in-one" software out there. As previously posted by Cool Cat, you can give the free trial a full ride for 30-days. I can't live without remote control for my scanners, so Proscan was the easy choice for me. Programming is a breeze as well and it also has integration with the RR site for broadcasting feeds. I don't think you can go wrong with Proscan for the BC796D. Each license allows you to install on two separate PC's.

P.S. I have no affiliation with Proscan, just love the software.

Clint you might want to read message 4 of this thread. I seriously doubt that Uniden updated that old application for rebanding - and therein lies the problem.

I don't want to squelch your offer of help, but then again you shouldn't spin your wheels for no reason

best regards..Mike

Uniden scanner software

Mike, are you telling me that the software I am trying to use is outdated anyways? If so, no problem I was going to get Proscan anyways, just trying to save a buck. I have read the manual enough that I even think I can get it going without software...........................just very time consuming. I just need to know what the set up looks like for the 2 systems (P25Moto800 & EDACS - Standard?, Wide/Narrow/SCAT?). Steve

I haven't tried the software personally, but I would suspect that to be the case. Remember what I said earlier - if you use software to program, it's a 2 step process. Both the firmware and software must be able to program a Moto rebanded system.

The easy way to find out is to create a new file with a single trunk bank. See if there's an entry for a new bank type for something along the lines of 'Motorola Type 2 custom reband'. If not then you have your answer.

As for ProScan, we have a screen shot of what a rebanded trunk bank setting would look like here...and I believe ProScan will set the table up automatically if the rebanded flag has been set in the database (and download the data, which I forgot to mention)....

Software Support for Uniden Rebanding - The RadioReference Wiki

It's very powerful software, I personally think it's better than ARC250...

Best regards..Mike
