I've tried the Uniden Software that comes with the BC796D and I am puzzled why the GUI (graphic user interface) looks just like the actual scanner. I guess that was to make it user friendly but you have to go through the same button pushing as you do on the actual unit (with only a few keyboard shortcuts).

Is there tried and tested software for this unit that displays the controls at a glance (complete) with pulldown windows etc.? Like some of the software available for other brands.

Also the database only accepts comma delimited text data, is there a quick way to convert the information and frequencies found in this sites database to the format required by the BC796D Database software or are there other options i.e. software or manual entry?

Regards, Greg

Butel's ARC250/785/296/796 software currently will grab the freqs from RRDatqbase and the next version (soon to be released) will allow for Trunked ID's and tags as well.
