I have just purchased a new BC796D and downloaded freqs. from my computer the same as my 250D all is working fine except the Tag Names are not coresponding to the software. The computer shows the bank tags and the scanner says "new" where the tag names are suppost to be on the third line only on trunked freq's. I re entered the info three times with no change. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm thinking you are talking the last line on the scanner, or the "tabs" for the banks in Arc250. I'm using ARC250Pro and I click on "Setup" from the table screen (where you enter information) and then "Bank Tags". There you can set the name of the different banks of the scanner and the software. Hope that helps.

In Trunked, line 3 indicates the Alpha Tag listed in the Trunk ID List pulldown. Line 4 indicates the Alpha Tag listed in the Edit Scan List feature in the same menu. This "Edit Scan List" button is in the upper right area of the Scan List pulldown menu.

In Conventional, Line 3 is the Alpha Tag listed adjacent to the frequency on the main page and as John suggested above, line 4 Alpha Tag is listed under the Settings pulldown in Bank Tags.

Thanks for the help so far but I still can't find what you are talking about. On the "List tags" there is nothing, everything is blank. Under "Trunk 1" - 1-3 000112 "Trunk 2" - 1-1 02-102 2-1 02-102 "Trunk 3" Nothing. "Trunk 4 Nothing. I have Bank 1-2-3-4 Trunking Only on my BC796D. I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say. Thanks

Bank Tags
On the top line of ARC, click on Setup, then Bank Tags pulldown, this gives you a Setup Bank Tags window. Click in the first and type in the name of the Bank (up to 16 spaces). Then do the same for other bank Tags. Click OK, your main page should now indicate these new changes in the Bank Tabs.

Scan List Tags
Click on Trunk at the top and select ID List. In the new window look to the very right of the third group of info from the top for a button labeled Edit ScanList Tag. Click on and in the new window, type in a name for each list. If a list is void of ID's, leave that list blank and don't ID scan any blank list. You'll need to do this for each bank tab at the top of the Trunk ID's window.

Since I already know what banks my ID's are in, I do this: I click on Setup-BankTags and enter a line of 16 periods.................... Where it says dummy I enter the date of the program for ref. Good Luck, Larry

This is a great scanner, I loaded from my 250D thru Butel Software which took 10 min. Now I have a base radio with no batteries to charge!!!The only issue I still have is still trying to get the third line to show the name of the scan list name, not the trunking name which is working properly. The ID Scan shows "new" not the trunking name. It works on my 250D great but I have to still solve this. This only happens on the Trunking Banks. Other than that I think this is a great scanner!!

Hello,

When the 796 stops on a TG, press the decimal (.) button. This action will toggle the Talk List Tag and Bank Tag on the display.

You still missed something in the programming. Try cloning from your 250D.

Hello,

If the 3rd line of the display does not show the TG Tag, no Alpha Tag was programmed. If the display shows something like this: "List 01 No. 01", check the mem file where you programmed the TG List and see if there are any Tags next to the TG's.

With ARC250, it is easy to program the TG List in the wrong bank. However, you can transfer or swap the info from bank to bank.
