Hi folks,

I have a Uniden BC796D programed for
State of Michigan (M.P.S.C.S.) apco-25 system

Using the free software from Uniden I save the *.ssd file
and edit it with wordpad then write it back to the scanner.

Example:

BC796D Trunking tip:
Trouble reading manuals? try this.

1. press and hold down HOLD/2/9 keys then turn the scanner ON
2. Read current bank from scanner and save
3. Edit BANK,1,100 with your control frequency
4. Edit TRUNK,1,100 with at least 2 ID numbers any will do
5. send the file to the scanner and hit SCAN
6. Press down and hold TRUNK until it reads ID SEARCH
7. enter new IDs by pressing TRNFR/E/RSM keys
8. save/edit the new TRUNK,1,100 lines how you want them.
9. Write the file back to the scanner and run in ID SCAN mode.

I dont get it what are you trying to do I have a 796 and that went over my head

i have the 796 too... thats just programming it from the scanner front... programming found TG's...

was there even a question asked in this post? what are ya goin with this?

Sorry about the post,
Thanks for pointing out my mistake also.

I have read many posts complaining about the 796 manual
and not being able to understand how to program this scanner.

What I was attempting to do was show an other way to get it
trunking without reading the manual.

I have been in communications repair for over 50 years and
most folks have great difficulty reading and understanding
instructions manuals.
The main reason has always been because they are written by
design engineers that won't listen to people that use and
repair the products. We all have to live with it. hi
One example is mounting the speaker on bottom, calling
a decent channel switch a VFO, wiring a squelch control
backwards etc.

I'll be more careful how I post and please let me know
if I goof up again.
