BC855xlt Test Points?

I sent a query to Uniden tech support via their website regarding TP-1 and TP-3 on the BC-855's motherboard. Their response was:

Our Solution:
Thank you for using our system.
Unfortunately we do not have that specific information on the internals of the scanners.

OK, so if Uniden tech support doesn't know how their scanners work, who can I ask?

This scanner got FCC type acceptance in 1990. We aren't going to have info on this unit. I was surprised to find that someone had posted the O/M for it at http://radiopics.com/1. Manuals/Bearcat/Bearcat BC855XLT (Manual).pdf, though. If you hadn't seen it already, you might also be interested in Discriminator Output BC855XLT.

Thanks, Paul. I already have the discriminator tap site bookmarked. I asked the site operator the same question, but he only posts modifications received from others and has no additional technical info.

TP-3 is supposed to be a "filtered" tap from baseband audio, but the website states that the signals are too rounded by the filtering to be of much use. As TP-1 is right next to it on the board, I wondered whether it might have been an unfiltered tap. I was hoping not to have to solder to a SMT IC leg.
