I own three BCD325P2s. A friend of mine owns a 325P2 and a 996P2. Last night I updated the firmware on his scanners. I did the 325P2 first. That went smoothly. Then I tried to update his 996P2, and BC_VUP3 froze on the "Select COM Port" screen. I had to force quit the program in Task Manager.

I then updated one of his 436 scanners using Sentinel. After that, I was able to successfully update the firmware on his 996P2 with BC_VUP3.

Today I updated all my scanners. I updated my SDS and 536 series radios first, then one 325P2. Of course I had the freezing issue when I tried to update the second one, so I updated my 436 with Sentinel. Then I was able to update my second 325P2 with BC_VUP3.

I am now trying to update the third 325P2. Since I don't have any other SDS or 436/536 scanners left to update with Sentinel, I can't get BC_VUP3 to work. Power-cycling my PC doesn't work.

Both of us use Windows 10 PCs with all current updates. Our BC_VUP3 version is 3.03. Has anyone else had this problem?

Try this.. In windows device manager, delete the COM port, reboot the PC, plug the 325P2 into the PC and again, go to device manager and see what COM port your PC created. Make sure the default baud rate is appropriate for BC-VUP3 is correct and now try the update.
