Here is the software for programming the BCD160DN/BCD260DN that I am aware of:

1. BCDX60DN SS ( BCD160DN Radio Scanner ) : Free
2. ProScan ( ProScan ) : $50 (free 30 day trial)
3. ARC260 ( ARC260 software for Uniden BCD160DN and BCD260DN ) : $39.95 (free demo)

The firmware is updated using BC_VUP firmware update loader ( BCD160DN Radio Scanner )

AFAIK there is no BC_VUP for the 160 and 260 yet. It would make sense to have the same check for firmware updates function that Sentinel does for the HP and SDS scanners. But nah, that makes too much sense...@JoeBearcat are you listening?

I can vouch for the ARC260. It’s what I use with my 160DN.

For updating firmware, BC_VUP is for the older scanners. Use BC_VUP3 for the newer scanners including the BCDX60DN's. For programming software, you can use ARC260, ProScan, and Uniden BCDX60DN_SS. The free Uniden software does not have the capability of downloading from the Radio Reference database.
