Just recently purchased a BCD325P2, I’m located in Weymouth which I know Zone 5 is my ideal site, but tried programming it like I did with my BC15X with the Motorola Smartzone ll , but haven’t heard anything yet. I put in the custom band plans and everything. If anyone can help me would be appreciated. I’d like to be able to listen to Troops A, H and D

Are you programming the scanner manually or with some software?

Are there any other frequencies already programmed into the scanner that are working?

If you are using programming software, I will be happy to take a look at your file to check it for problems. You will need to zip the file to be able to attach it. Click on Attach files and open the zipped file.

Manually, I have Zones 1, 3 and 5 programmed in. And yes all my digital frequencies around here are coming in

I don't understand what you are doing. Tere are no digital talkgroups except for Franklin County, Greenfield and radio techs if you programmed the Motorola Type II SmartZone system. Is this the site you are using?

If so, there are no rebanded frequencies. System type should be MOT and band plan should be 800/900 Standard.

When I said digital frequencies I meant my other banks, not part of the MSP stuff, sorry for the miscommunication. I think it’s just coming down to poor reception I guess

If you still hear state police on the Motorola Type II SmartZone system on your BCT15X, you should be able to hear it on your BCD325P2. You might try swapping antennas. Squelch should be set to 2. Set system type to MOT and band plan to 800/900 Standard for the Metro Boston, Boston Simulcast, and Bristol/Plymouth sites. None of those 3 sites require a custom band plan. They do not use rebanded frequencies. Rebanded frequencies are 851, 852, and 853 MHz. They were dropped 15 MHz from 866, 867, and 868 MHz.

actually there are some TG's that are on the Type II that are P25 Voice, generally the radio Techs) which is why two of the Granted Voice channels are allowed P25 for Zone 5

However none of that should come into play just to get the basic Patrol Channels.

You'll want to program for the new COMIRS system.

See details on this page.

I get all divisions on the system clear as day on my SDS100 and SDS200. I hear MassDOT, MSP, Environmental Police and more from clear across the state.
CoMIRS has not arrived in Eastern Massachusetts, with the slight exceptions of Cambridge, Massport and the 700 overlay.
98% of Eastern Mass and the Cape is the Analog Legacy system.

What do you mean by "Custom Band Plans?" I never needed those for MSP with my 325P2. I probably still have my programming file, but you need ProScan to use it. Which is well worth the money in time saved for programming. I think they developer still offers a 30 day free trial. You can use it on all different models of Uniden scanners.

All you need for MSP Zone 5 or Zone 3 are the control channels. From my former residence in Stoughton I could get Zone 3 and Zone 4 perfectly.

For the 325P2, use "Motorola" as the System Type. Site Type Should be "Standard."

For Zone 5 frequencies are
854.5625
854.6125
856.0625

For Zone 3 frequencies are
859.8375
859.2875
858.3625
855.9125

Just to be clear, it's an Analog system, which I think you know.

Thank you for the clarification.

I did manage to hear from my mobile scanner here in Western MA, over one of the COMIRS MSP channels...
Call for high speed vehicle on I-95 N resulting in a roll-over crash in Walpole. Suspects fleeing into woods along I-95 N, calls for air wing support, weapon find in vehicle.

It was so far out east, I thought is was part of that expanded coverage on the statewide system.

Apologies for any misinformation from my side.

Without knowing which specific TG you heard, all that can be said is it varies.

ComIRS and the Legacy Analog system share the same TG's, but there is (95% of the time) No need of tying up Vital Voice channels in Western Mass with Eastern Mass traffic (some exceptions) which is why as the P25 migrates along into other areas, your Sites are going to become smaller and smaller and we should not expect to hear A Troop traffic in the future in the southern portion of H Troop anymore

There has been some training going on in Eastern MA that has been heard out west. Chases and air wing stuff. Perhaps that was what you heard.

MSP has been doing various training on SOPS TGs. Those TGs can roam anywhere in the state digital or analog sites.

They do most of that type of training on SOPS channels which last I knew were carried on all sites. ecps92 would know if that's current.

Back to the OP's question. IIRC Zone 5 is rebanded, so you need a rebanded table if you're entering it manually.

The 325P2 is a Sentinel supported scanner. Just download the latest DB into Sentinel and load it into the scanner.
You can edit the favorites to delete what you don't want.
