i have a 396T and i am the only one that touches it.
it was very quiet one day and i found the squelch at the max, 15.
seems it did it all by itself.
Sounds familiar. Seeing the squelch is right below the volume/on-off on the 200, my wife will twist the squelch knob once in a while turning it off.

It is a good scanner. The naysayers never had one. Change your location, up and out.
Great scanner... just not designed to receive simulcast systems. I don't think anyone said there was anything wrong with the 325, it just isn't the SDSx00. How well the 325 will work with simulcast depends on a number of factors, including location, antenna, topography, etc.

Help. Have a BCD996P2. Somehow I blundered into Custom 10 search and can't get out of it. Can anyone set me straight? Thanks.

To repeat wtp's question, what is your squelch setting? Normally it is 2.

i think i always had it set to 1 or 0, just checked now since i just got back on here and saw the post, its at 0 right now. do P25 Phase 2 systems even use squelch?

ever since i reprogrammed it using the program and file you uploaded, it seems to be missing less. i tried it with both the north and south systems active, but as i suspected, it only picks up the north system. i did try the paper clip trick, didn't seem to change anything, so i put the rubber antenna it came with back on

i am in no way bashing the scanner. i didn't understand the whole simulcast thing when i bought it. got it because it was a good deal and just about all the police departments in my area switched over to the P25 system. it actually took me a week to notice that my analogue scanner had been a little quieter without them lol. once i found out they switched, i started looking for a new scanner.

That will only reduce the volume unless the FUNC button was pressed first as well as the scroll knob being pressed down.
