I need some help.
Late December 2024 my Uniden scanner BCD396T no longer stops on programmed channels (SL CO UCAN) in manual or scan mode.
It's as if there was nothing there.
I didn't do anything to the scanner. No channels are locked out. The speaker works and my squelch is at 2.
Could there be something wrong with the scanner?
I am stumped ..

If you are trying to monitor the Motorola system, it was totally abandoned. Everything is on the new P25 phase 2 system now, so you have a bit of programming to do.

Edit: Actually, you will need to upgrade your scanner to one that is capable of even receiving P25 phase 2.

and you might have a problem with simulcast
Salt Lake County Simulcast
if you have to use that one, there are 5 more towers in the county.
you might have to go up to an SDS series uniden radio.

Is it even worth buying a new scanner because of future encryption?

Of the agencies I used to listen to Davis is the only Law agency that is not encrypted. I live in Weber county and the fire channels are not.

I have currently logged 548 separate Talk Groups on this system alone, within range of my antennas. Of these, 11 have encryption. That means there are 537 separate unencrypted Channels, in use.
