I entered the nine integers for the esn serial number following the common default digits as well as the esn checksum value. I've verified both the esn serial number and checksum value under firmware version in my scanner and also with desktop text icon that is created at the time of the esn update. I can't find any errors.

Mine reads Sum=OFF, M-Ver=1 Why does it not show the correct #s etc. beside SUM ?
Once you open the zip file, you will need to EXTRACT not OPEN the scn file, which basically means take it out of the zip file and put it somewhere (like your desktop). Then you'll run the BC updated program and choose the scn file to install it to the scanner.motorman105 said:Hi UPMan!
In attempting the V2 firmware download for my BCD396T I got all the way to where I'm trying to open the V2 zip file and my computer tells me it can't open the file because it doesn't know where the file came from. I'm running Windows XP. The computer offered to go online and find a program I can download that will open the file. I'm not having any luck.
Are you aware of a site I can go on to download a program that will open this SCN file?
Thanks....I was sooooooo close!

First of all, don't pay anyone anything!!!motorman105 said:Thank you for the quick reply UFEMTFF,
When I try to extract the info from the V2 zip file...that's where my problem is. My computer is having trouble because it's a scn file. If I go online to try and get a program to extract the files, I get sites that want to scan my computer for free then charge 30-40 bucks to fix it. I'll pay the money if I think it will help me extract the files. I'm not a computer guy and I'd hate to pay the money and find out I still have a problem. Any ideas?
Thanks
O.K.!motorman105 said:I'm running Windows XP. The computer is able to extract the info from the zip file. here's where the fun begins...I now have a scn 2945KB file in "My Documents". It's when I go to open that file I get the message saying "Windows cannot open this file"
Now...am I supposed to have the BCD396T hooked up to the computer at this point? I disconnected it after I installed the ESN loader and got the ESN/Checksum.
Thanks again!
motorman105 said:OK...I used BC VUP I clicked on the extracted file, selected the com port, the baud rate and the download began without asking me for the Key. I got no error messages and the update ran fine. When i turn on the scanner a prompt comes up telling me to "resend update with key"
I have the key I just never was asked to enter it.
Anyone have any ideas ?
