I have been finding that my 396 seems to be decoding talkgroup id's incorrectly. My PRO 95 and PRO-2055 both decode to the correct id's, but from time to time the uniden seems to spit out random id's. The audio is still there, but not cross-referencing to the right id. Anyone have any suggestions for this problem?
Thanks, Ryan

I thought the same thing, but wouldn't the radio shack units pickup on that as well if they are in id search mode?
Thanks again, Ryan

Do you have it set to "ignore status bit" on that system? If you don't, that will give you apparent random IDs. The Radio Shack scanners you list, from what I understand, cannot decode the status bits anyway, so they would appear to be showing the 'correct' ID.

The 396, as well as some of the other Uniden's, do decode them. Based on how the system is set up. the status bits may be added to the base ID, giving the appearance that's its a new, or improper ID. I have them disabled on my 396 & the other DMA scanners. (Somebody more directly involved with system setup & admin could probably give you a more complete explanation.)

It might help if we knew what system you were watching at the time;provide a link to the database with your system as defined; post some of the 'wrong ids', and perhaps dump out your programming to a .usd file so others can take a look at it. It certainly could be a question about a patched tg, as KC9GLG mentions, but maybe it's something else. No one can diagnose it further without more information.

Have you got it defined as a Moto type 2, with the correct base/offset? You're right in that tg makes no sense (unless you are picking up Bucks county Pa. - see the news items in the link you posted - I would think it unlikely...)?

Dump your programming and let others see it - likely as not there's a setup issue here.

I know its not coming from the Bucks system, or at least none of the oddball talkgroups have matched up with their system, and the traffic I am hearing is Salem's system. It is Type 2 and I have confirmed the base, offset, and some other settings on multiple occasions as this has me stumped.
Thanks guys, Ryan

Here is a copy of my programming for the salem system. Only thing I have come up with is maybe if I play around with the control channel only and take out the other frequencies? Not sure if that might help or not. Appreciate any insight anyone else may have after looking over my programming.
Thanks, Ryan

Several of my unidens will do that while monitoring our noisy simulcast TRS system. On the ones that have control channel only I have turned it on & it has eliminated the problem.

I will give that a try. I should have a fairly good signal, it will do it on my base antenna too, which Unitrunker usually shows decoding at about 97%. I'll see what this gets me.
Thanks again,
Ryan
