For the past several months I've been using Motorola radios (XTS2500/5000s) as scanners. However, yesterday, I took my BCD436HP out of my cabinet and powered it up in preparation for getting the DMR upgrade. I noticed that once the startup screen came on, it just as quickly went to a blank screen. Nothing I did made it get past the initial startup screen. In other words, it simply would NOT go to the menu or a scanning screen. NOTHING! I kept powering it up to see if it would eventually continue past the startup screen. I'm guessing most 436 owners maybe would never allow this expensive scanner to sit idle for an extended period of time. Should I do a complete reset of the scanner? Or reload the "codeplug" that I last loaded into the scanner?

Suggestions?

I would send it in for repair but it wouldn't hurt to try a reset first:

Or you could try reformatting the micro SD card or another one to see if that is it. Also, make sure you are using good batteries, you may have a bad cell.

Will the screen come on and function normal when in 'serial port' mode?
