I have a BCD436HP with a blue screen. The SN.376C280. Would the C 2 or does the 8 mean that it was manufactured either
2018 or 2020? From what I have read some have a Z instead of a C. So far no battery or clock issuses. Though it does seem a little deaf on UHF side. Wasn't sure if the issue with the capacitor was added. Thank you,
Mike

2 = 2022
8 = Manufactured in Vietnam

see Uniden Scanner Serial Numbers - The RadioReference Wiki
Example: 383Z88123456
The fifth character is the year code, in our example is an "8" so that would indicate a 2018 production run. Depending on the scanner model this could also indicate 2008 or eventually 2028. Production Run date codes may not always indicate the actual year it was manufactured as runs often straddle calendar years. If the preceding 4th character is a letter other than Z then it is probably the second decade of its manufacturing run.

The sixth character is the factory code. These are the known codes used:

  • 2 Beta/Engineering
  • 4 China
  • 6 Philippines
  • 8 Vietnam

I know you said that the capacitor was added and by 2022 these radios didn't have any more issues but you say it's weak on UHF..

Just for fun, if you have any copper tape around, most of us do if we had the sds200 with a hum LOL but if you can get some copper tape and line the inside of the battery cover carefully and securely.. see if the UHF reception improves.
