Mine isn't simulcast, so that's probably why the older scanners run circles around the SDS200. The change to programming is something to experiment with, though. Also, there's attenuation, paper clips, using a horribly tuned antenna, etc... ;)
Yes you might want to check out my post above.

I knew some sites on LWIN in Larger Cities were Simulcast including (Baton Rouge, New Orleans, St. Tammany/Slidell). but was not 100% about Lake Charles. Again I assumed thats what they were doing when they said upgrading a year after the new tower was built. However not all sites on LWIN are Simulcast in the state. I guess one way to find out is monitor all the sites in the parish/area on one scanner and monitor the Lake Charles site on the other and see if all the same traffic is broadcasted on the Lake Charles site as all the other sites scanning, am I correct?
My goal is to purchase a new SDS100 and replace the 436hp I currently have. That upgrade should help. I have been holding off because I read the possiblity of a new one coming out.

Thanks for acknowledging my replies, I did write you a PM. Yes you would benefit from an SDS 100.

As far as a new radio coming out from Uniden that's better that is off topic and there is a lengthy thread going on right now about that and the consensus is I wouldn't bet on it. Good to hear back from you. Hope we were able to help you out.

Okay original poster I got curious so I asked artificial ignorance and they confirmed itI

I just wanted to make sure that you saw the confirmation your system is simulcast so you needn't research it, before this thread goes off topic.

I wouldn't trust AI to determine whether a specific site is simulcast. Yes - LWIN has some simulcast sites. However, not all sites are simulcast. Reviewing the license information, it does not look like the sites near Lake Charles site are simulcast. Maybe someone in LA can confirm / deny before making that assumption based on AI.

Does the License state if Lake Charles is Simulcast if it shows the sites near are NOT?

I just Googled it, I don't trust AI either which is why I called it artificial ignorance.. I found other sources that pretty much said the same thing.

I suggested that the original poster could go to the state forum and see what they have to say about the system.

Simulcast Distortion is a topic I'm very familiar with and the rest of that post was all the interventions that he could try for the symptoms that he had which very much look like he's dealing with simulcast.

I look forward to your findings and suggestions to help him.🙂

I will be posting on the State forum. Hopefully someone can help. I have found in the past not many users or posters from this area

I've been following the Louisiana state forum and I do believe Lake Charles is simulcast! What else would explain the symptoms which are classic. What else could it be?

I have been wanting to post another issue regarding my SDS200 and the local Lake Charles Site for a while just never been able to try to word it to make sense since its a little complicated I guess. Now maybe a good time to post it here, if its a good place to post it since it may be a little off topic. I never had this issue with my BCD536HP and do not have this issue with my 436hp, however it does with the SDS200. Keep in mind I never program any of the site freqs. in a system and ONLY program the active CC Channel to monitor. I sometimes try to monitor another site (Acadia) 40 minutes from here thats I have never had much trouble monitoring with my 536 and 436 using an external antenna. The control channel for that site is 769.46875. When I try to monitor that site using that CC I am actually picking the local Lake Charles site using on that CC. The Acadia CC is not used or in the db for the Lake Charles Site. In fact neither of the two site use any of the same frequencies on there sites. So now I can no longer monitor the Acadia site on my SDS200 because it is picking up the LC Site. Actuall if I try to monitor Acadia site CC when there is traffic on the LC site it displays the same freq, from the LC Tower.
I will say the LC is a very high tower compared to the last one and is pretty close to me. If I disconnect my external antenna and connect it to my 436hp this does not happen or any other time. So bottom line I can no longer monitor Acadia site unless the weather is just right and I use my 436 with my standard rubber antenna since I do leave my external connected to the SDS200. I guess the problem is the signal from the LC Sites CC is very strong because of its distance to me and overridiing the CC from the Acadia SIte. Hopefully this all make sense to anyone and this is why I have been hesitating the make this post in the past. Sorry for the long post. Below are all the freqs. for the two sites.

Lake Charles:
769.20625c769.78125770.05625770.45625c770.68125770.90625771.35625

Squelch is Always set at 2. The problem is Lake Charles is over riding the Acadia Site even though its totally diffrent Control Channels and Frequencies. I am very close to Lake Charles. Only happens on SDS200. I guess the SDS200 is just more sensitive

Where do you get this filter or is it built in
It's already built into the scanner. In Sentinel, go to the Tools tab and set Target Model to SDS200. Open the favorites list in the Favorites List Editor. Click on the Lake Charles site in the left panel of Sentinel and click on Options. Set Filter to Wide Invert. Do the same for the Acadia site. Save your changes and exit the Favorites List Editor. Write the favorites list to the scanner again.
