When would be the best time to set the Digital Threshold Mode? From where I am going to be scanning from 95% of the time, or when I'm closer to the towers I have programmed in?

I would imagine that if I did it when at home area with a not-so-strong signal would lead to reception issues when out and about or vice versa?

Still learning this scanner and want to make the most out of this one, thanks!

Experimentation is key, not all systems & RF environments are created equal, several factors come into play so there's no cookie cutter answer. Press Function then VOL to bring up the error rate display mode as shown below then wait for a transmission while keeping an eye on the display. Once Error rate reaches as close to 0 as possible, take note of the number where outlined in screenshot below (to left of AUTO if auto mode is set) then set your threshold mode to manual and whatever threshold level number is displayed when ERR is at or close to 0. Hope this makes sense
