Got the ProClip mount and it is VERY secure. Clipped right into my dash as advertised. I had two choices. To the immediate right of the radio or below that point. I chose to clip it lower so it didn't block the vent. I used one of the pre drilled holes to mount the mic holder to it just to see it all mounted. As you can see from the second pic, I still have to drill and secure the lower part of the mic holder to the proclip. Since this was just for lunch time, it will work till I get home and finish it.

oh very nice

Thanks Jason. I did nothing but clip it in and that thing isn't moving even if the truck flips over (that's how tight it is). It was between the Proclip and the mount you use. With me having had a GPS fall off my window from using suction cups before, I just couldn't go your route. I just ordered an antenna from scannermaster that should be here mid week next week.

Looks good! What antenna did you order?

I ended up getting the SpectrumForce wide band with mag mount as a starter. Mixed reviews but more positive than negative. So we'll see. I'm sure it will be better than the antenna i'm using with where I have the radio mounted.

Pics mounted? I'm curious because I'm in the market for a wide band antenna that's not huge.

I don't have any photos of that antenna, but I'm the one who suggested it in post #14. The base is only slightly bigger than a loonie (for non-Canadians, it's a little bigger than the cap off a soda bottle). The antenna element is, as the page on Scanner Master describes, about 17", and it has 12 feet of cable with a preconnected BNC or SMA female on the end. Some people report that the connector fails somewhat easier than on other antennas, but I haven't experienced that and I would say I'm connecting and disconnecting this antenna from devices an average amount compared to other users.

I've never had this antenna come off a surface when I didn't want it to, even at speeds of 120 km/h or greater. It does produce a perceptible whistle when you're driving, which I presume is due to the coil shape in the vertical element.

I ordered it yesterday (won't ship till Monday) and it should be here early next week. Standard UPS ground from MA to NJ should be a one day point. I will post pics once it arrives.

I got the antenna yesterday but it was storming most of the evening. I tossed it on this morning right before heading to work. Here are the requested pics of it mounted. I need to re-route the wire but i'm very pleased with the reception and how strong the magnet is. Unless you are looking for it, you can barely notice it there. Of course, with the systems around me being in the 500 range, jumping from the RadioShack 800 improved reception.

My favorite in-vehicle radio mount is the Panavise custom dash mounts, coupled with the Panavise 777 clip. The dash mounts use existing screws in your dash and place the mount plate right where you want it. Then you have a clip that will take either a belt clip or the button on the back of your Uniden.
