BCD436HP/BCD536HP: Bcd436hp weird reception issue

I'm having a weird reception issue with my bad436hp. It will not pick up anything for a while after being on. The issue goes away after it's been on for a while. I live in the middle of a city so it should pick up a lot. I don't understand why the problem goes away after half an hour. It seems like some component is failing but I have no idea what.

The first thing to suspect with weird issues is the SD card. If you have a spare, replace the card and reprogram the scanner. You can also try reformatting the card and reprogramming the scanner. In either case, you will need to go to the Scanner tab in Sentinel and click on Clear User Data before programming the scanner. You may be experiencing simulcast distortion with the PSERN system. That can cause intermittent reception and garbled audio problems.

Interesting that an unintentional (or maybe intentional) typo becomes appropriate… You write “bad436hp” instead of “bcd436hp…🥴

When it is not picking anything up, tune to your local weather frequency and see if it receives that.

How long have you been monitoring the area in question? How long has this been occurring? Have you been able to listen to your system without any problems? Finally, how long have your used the 436HP?

On occasion, I have to use an X tool to tighten the SMA housing on my 436HP and SDS 100.

I agree with the previous question, "Can you hear NOAA?"
