BCD536 vs BCD996P2

I just got my BCD996P2 today and I am hoping to use it for the Phase 2 services. I also have a 536. I am noticing so far, in the same slot, that the 996P2 is not receiving as fast or sometimes the channel is silent though stopping on it.

I am not seeing the control channel request, but sometimes when it first tunes in I am seeing the bars gone for strength.

Now I have had a few issues with signal but that is just my set up, but does anyone believe the signal should be so different?

As I watch, for the most part it appears I am receiving the signal, however, at least on P25 Phase 2 not always getting Audio, so far do not see that issue on Phase 1.....but still sort of experimenting.

This is with an audio jack in and out...I am getting carrier then the audio pops in..

I will keep monitoring, maybe even add a regular channel...good old VHF!! LOL

Are you scanning something else along with the P2 system?

If so try scanning just the P2 system and see what happens.

I am presently scanning two P2 systems, Union County Tower (for elizabeth Fire) and West Orange Tower for FD.

I did have a P1 system up and that seems to have zero audio issues.

The P2 seems to eventually kick in...not sure what that means, though, maybe a setting?

I will keep monitoring, I have the BCD536 set up and trying to compare, but as I said I have seen the system (channel) with carrier and no audio......as I said, experimenting as much as possible still.

The 996P2 and 325P2 currently have an issue where if you scan a P2 system and something (anything) else the P2 will get false channel grants and you won't hear the audio.

The workaround is only scan the P2 system.

Well isn't that lovely?? LOL..I got it mostly for P2, so I can do that.

Should it matter how many P2 systems I have set up or as long as I am listening only to P2 I will be OK?

A P2 system and anything else doesn't work, doesn't matter if it's another P2, conventional, P1 or whatever.

Uniden is supposed to be exploring a fix at this time.

p2 and 996P2

This thing needs a firmware update like the 536 and 436,it hasnt got one yet.
Mine also has issues with the phase 2,sometimes it catches sometimes not.
If you use the back of the set antenna it works best sideways.Not perfect by any means.

So if I have two systems in there, one Union County tower the other one the W. Orange tower then I have to much scanning? Yikes!

That is an odd problem.

Mine is connected into my coupler with the antenna in the attic.

I guess this would not be the scanner to put in the car, since I would definitely monitor more than P2 in the truck.

Guess Uniden is trying to release these things too fast.

Thread here somewhere but when I went to update my stuff, found that there was already an update 1.05.02 and I believe it works right now.
