Hi everyone.

Need a little help here. I have a bcd536 connected to my PC via wifi dongle. Today my PC updated and rebooted and disconnected my feed. This has happened on numerous occasions so nothing new. I get home, I tried to get it connected as I usually do, except this time it appears that there's an issue with the wifi connection, everything appears normal, the dongle lights up, the scanner is working properly (just won't connect to PC). I checked the IP address in the scanner and there isn't one, what i see is 0.0.0.0 also noticed that beside the wifi signal icon on the scanner face has an exclamation point beside it. Also the wifi strength icon stays on even if I disconnect the dongle.
I've tried several fixes that were recommended online, but no joy.
Any of you folks have experience with this in the past? And if so how did you remedy it?
Thanks in advance for any and all help and advice.

Have you gone through the WiFi settings on your scanner and confirm they are correct/match your network? (I'm wondering if something happened to the scanner when the computer re-booted.)

I did, and they do not match. Proscan will not auto detect the scanner IP address either.

When this has happened to me, I have had to unplug/plug the wifi dongle and go back through the Wifi setup again on the 536. Once I did that, I did the URL reconnect on Proscan (auto detect if necessary) and all is well. Also I assume you have port forwarding set for the static IP of the scanner.

Wireless device? Not sure i understand what you're talking about.
Sorry, your access-point. Anytime I have odd behavior with an end-device on my wireless I'll usually just reboot everything involved from the end-device to the wireless access-point(s) and try again.

Thanks everyone for the advice and suggestions. I've tried pretty much everything at this point and nothing has worked.
The wifi info on the scanner will not accept the IP address from the scanner, it continues to show IP address as 0.0.0.0 . I tried to troubleshoot the dongle.
1. The firmware is current.
2. It appears to be making a connection given that the green light comes on when plugged into USB port, and it shows other information in wifi settings on scanner.
3. The dongle works perfectly fine in access point mode.
I've tried the reset in the wifi settings but that doesn't do anything that I can tell.
It simply will not read IP address from scanner.

I haven't reset my router yet because everything else on my network is perfectly fine.
This brings me back to proscan and or Sentinel software. I've looked and looked at the settings and nothing obvious stands out to me.
My next thought is to uninstall/reinstall proscan and start from scratch.
If you guys have any other suggestions or would be interested in putting another set of eyes on this let me know.
I'm to the point now where no one in the house (including the dogs) don't want to come near me or speak to me! Remember Chevy Chase in Christmas vacation when he gets his bonus? Yeah, that's me...lol
Thanks again.

I would power cycle the scanner first. if that doesn't work then perhaps find an app for your phone that measures the WiFi RSSI.
ProScan and Sentinel has nothing to do with your scanner acquiring an IP address. It's a communications problem between your scanner and the router so I would focus on that.

Makes sense, thank you.

Ok gentlemen, the stars must have aligned! Or sometimes you just get lucky...either way, just before I decide to give up and go to bed I decide to try one more time to reset my router and modem and it works! I will not question this I'll just accept it as a blessing. I really do appreciate all of the recommendations.
Never give up!

I just reread my post. I meant to say. I would power cycle the scanner router first.
I'm glad it's working.

3. The dongle works perfectly fine in access point mode.
Then the WiFi dongle and scanner works as it should. You could remember this check the next time it happens. If connecting a mobile phone to it then also IP handling works, as a double check.

Routers often have a reboot timer that can be set to different times like one nigh a week or so and are put there for a reason, that routers are not working at a 100% level and sometimes needs to be rebooted, in the same way that Windows operating systems for home use cannot be left running day after day without rebooting.
