BCD536HP Conventional Discovery Mode?

I'm not sure I understand properly what this does. The manual says:
Conventional Discovery Mode lets you monitor a range of frequencies that are not already known to be in use in your area.
and
have the option to compare hits to the Database, and log all hits or just new hits

Does this compare what is found in the entire Database, or just what I have loaded as favorites?

All channels currently enabled (Database and Favorites Lists).

Thanks for the response. I'm trying to wrap my head around something then:

All of my favorites have Location Control = No., but I'm in PA

I use Conventional Discovery Mode to scan a section of the MilAir UHF band and come up with hit.

The frequency is not in my favorites, but the internal database has it listed as an Alaskan National Guard frequency. Does that classify as a new hit and get logged since I'm in PA, or does the fact that it exists in the internal database mean it's not a new hit and doesn't get logged?

Since it's in there it's not new. It does not care where and I doubt if there is a location for it in the DB.
