Not very close to Ontario, but HRO in Anaheim says on their website that they have them.

Is there a reason why a lot of transmission are not Recorded for Replay?.. Drives me crazy... it seems to Randomly decide what it wants to record for replay the 536 that is....

Hi,
try to increase the Replay Duration in Replay Options. By default it is only 30 seconds. The Replay recordings are only kept for 30 seconds. I increased mine to 120 seconds. It gives me more time to listen to the last replay recording(s).

I'm about to put an order in for one of these bad boys. I wanted to buy a wideband mag mount antenna as the one I have has worked well for my BC780xlt. Can someone let me know whether the antenna is a BNC or SMA connection? Thanks!

Thanks for the extremely quick response!!! Unfortunately the antenna I want is only available in SMA so I'm going to need an adapter. I'm pretty sure I need SMA female to BNC male. Can you confirm?

Got an error trying to update the firmware on the BC-WF1.

The error I got was:
Unhandled exception had occurred on your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immedieately.

Access to the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Uniden\BC-WF1_FirmwareUpdater\1_31_2014_3_53_30_PM.log'

The way to fix this is to go into the C:\Program Files (x86)\Uniden folder, right-click and then left-click on Properties.
Click on the security tab, and add yourself under "Group or user names".
Click Edit
Click Add
Under "Enter the object names to select" type in your user name on your PC and click "Check Name"
Click OK
Click under "Permissions for SYSTEM" check the "Full Control" box and then click "OK".

Now your user account will have full control of this folder. You can update your firmware and then remove this access if you choose.

To do that, go back to the Uniden folder, right-click, left-click properties.
Click on your Username under "Group or users names" and then click on "Remove". Click OK.
Ok, I did get a "update successful" but when I got the confirmation the update status bar stopped at about halfway when I received the confirmation. Is this anything to be concerned with? How does one tell if the update is true on the wifi dongle?

Which particular antenna are you looking at? I'm familiar with the Spectrum Force Wideband antenna with magnetic mounting. They come in both SMA and BNC versions.

You typically see a lot more antenna offerings using BNC ends then SMA - I had to do some searching to find a mobile antenna with the SMA connector for my portable scanners.

If the antenna cable is your basic RG58 and you are reasonably handy, you could cut the SMA end off and replace it with a crimp-on BNC connector. I've heard that adapters can result in a slight loss of signal. Radio systems these days are not pushing out as much RF power, so reducing line loss can be beneficial for pulling in distant signals. Of course if your scanning is limited to nearby systems, then this is all academic.

I saw a post earlier about "squelch tail". I have end code enabled but am now noticing "squelch tail" following analog trunking activity where I created a new "department".

Using Sentinel, I created a "new" department to separate the "routine" fire talkgroups on a system from the "fireground" talkgroups. First, although Sentinel seems to allow me to select 1 or more rows of talkgroups and Control-C (or right-click Copy) from the existing department list and then Control-V (or right-click paste) them into the new department, this doesn't seems to do anything. So, I manually recreated them in the new department and manually deleted them from the old department. I don't understand why the cut/paste functions are available if they don't work.

Of course, there may be a better way to accomplish what I'm trying to do - and I'm sure someone will let me know very quickly the "error of my ways". I'm learning more and more about the quick key options and see alot of flexibility in the QK feature. There may be something in there to accomplish this without creating new departments. My concern with the QKs is inadvertently disabling something and not knowing it ("why is my radio not working right?")

It would be REALLY nice to have a "Quick Key decoder" (display a "you've programmed these systems/quick keys this way") that then allows you to print that cheat sheet out for later reference. EVEN BETTER, it would be nice to have a better user interface to see the entirety of your programming and be able to view/print/set the quick keys for the some amount of your programming (per favorites list?).....

Anyway, at the moment, it appears that the new talkgroups I created have this "squelch tail" problem while other testing ones do not.

After more testing, I'll update.

I don't know what could be added to the wiki that isn't already in the manual. What issue are you having?

Follow the steps here:
BCD536HP < UnidenMan4 < TWiki

I did it without any issues, on my laptop with Windows 8.1. Once you applied the firmware to the dongle, you should be able to configure it on the scanner (Menu => Wi-Fi Setup). But you won't be able to use WiFi because the WiFi Siren app is not available yet.
