Here in Canada current Uniden digital mobile is $550, but new digital mobile price is listed at $720 !

So much for Uniden keeping the prices in line with previous models. Feels like I'm paying extra for the USB cable and other things added in cash. I don't think its worth $720 but maybe this is just a 'suggested retail price'. I don't know.

That's not Uniden's fault. Canadian retailers consistently soak their customers for all they're worth. I haven't bought a scanner from any Canadian retailer for ages. IIRC their original price on the HP1 was $699.

Buy from Scanner Master or someone like that. Even with brokerage fees you'll come out ahead.

The Shack and 10% discount

Radio Shack gets them they'll probably have a Sell on them every once in a While and drop the price back a bit..

And some can use the Shack Card or there Military Card and save 10% if it's available at the Stores.. that will for some make a purchase allot easier..

Decided that since it's Black Friday, I went ahead and preordered the 536 from Scanner Masters. I used the code for free shipping. Now that it is paid for time to save up for the 436HP.

BCD436 / 536 not coming to R.S. 2014

Well I found out one place that will NOT carry the new Uniden Scanners for the 2014 year) R.S. why I don't know.. UPMan mentioned it on a YouTube video. when some one asked. I don't know if this stems from the way things are going on with R.S. with some of there stores closing or for some other reason. It may be because of the whistler / GRE radio that they may stock when they come out..

But if they don't carry those radios and when stock empties out on the 396 / 996 and Hp-1's Radio Shack may not have any Scanners to sell and that kind of disappoints me a little..

My hope is for as well is that the Retailers that are going to sell 436 / 536 they'll have enough stock to meet the Demand I know i want one but at this time I can't pre-order one so when the end of Jan or first of Feb. come around is there going to be enough to go around or will they all be swallowed up because of the pre-orders.. I guess for us one's that don't pre-order we'll have to wait and see.

In the launch video, Upman refers to "dealers and distributors". What's the difference between a "dealer" and a "distributor"? Does one get the scanner sooner than others or may have a better price?

I was kinda hoping RS would carry them, so i could get one locally, and not have to make sure someone is home on a certain day to sign for it. I went to my local RS to pick up a bc125at during their black friday sale, and have never seen so many unidens stocked in a RS store. they had the bc75xlt, bc125at, bcd396xt, and an HP-1! Im assuming they have so many unidens in stock because they cant get "Radio shack" scanners right now. Once whistler starts making the 4 RS scanners that Lindsay mentioned, im sure the unidens will disappear. However if they were to carry the new scanners, they would most likely charge considerably more then what everyone else charges. I remember they had the 396xt for $570 (i think) for the longest time...

We primarily sell to distributors. You probably wouldn't recognize the distributor's name unless you are in the industry. Distributors then sell to Dealers (like Ham Station, ScannerMaster, HRO, etc) whom you would recognize.

Sad but understand the circumstances..

Yea I know one of the Distributors Sante Fe Distributing out of Lanexa,Ks not only did my BC780 come out of there and was shipped were I bought my scanners locally for a long time.)

I've been by there location with my Dad when he was Driving Truck.. the only thing i see in R.S. not getting them it leaves a hole when the 396 and 996 finally vanishes from the scene I think they deserve the sell the scanners as they did the XT line of scanners but i'm just a customer and can only voice my opinion..

I THOUGHT I SAW $24.95 SHIPPING FROM SCANNER MASTER. LOOKS LIKE 599 EVERYWHERE
AND YOU GOT Mass Sale tax of about $30.00. If Scanner World was still in business they would hhave them too AND the best price. Uniden says Walmart will have them too. BUT WHEN is the big question. WHEN ?????

Main Trading Company in Paris, TX is $598 and free shipping. And they posted something about availability 1-25, I think! They are a very good bunch of folks, and making quite the name for themselves in amateur radio gear...
