BCD325P2/BCD996P2: BCD996P2 Not Receiving Trunking Sites

Hello! I Bought a BCD996P2 from Amazon, I am new to the scanner. I have used free scan to input my local trunking systems into the scanner (Forsyth county NC) The scanner will not pick up any control channels all it shows is NFM when scanning, I can receive the control channels fine from where I live. I have a BCD436HP and I also use a BCD396T and they receive fine. I am trying to pick up the W-S/FC system, Viper and the Kernersville P25 system which my other scanners pick up fine. Any help is very appreciated!

Do you have a reliable NOAA weather station you can tune the 996p2 to? How well is it received? Simulcast distortion may be a factor with Winston-Salem / Forsyth County (P25) depending on where you are relative to two or more towers on the simulcast

It is getting the NOAA channel just fine

Be sure to update the firmware.

Less antenna is better in those situations.

Set Viper to P25 Standard under Type

Noticed W-S/FC TYPE II, W-S/FC P25, you have a bunch of invalids in TGID group 1 from likely a copy-paste
Find em is Edit, Sort, Frequency/TGID- Ascending

You have two systems W-S/FC, the P25 one also set to P25 Standard under Type

From here they are moving to the P25 system, same frequencies.

I completely redid his programming file and he was still not receiving anything.

Turns out the antenna that came with the scanner had some defect and was not making connection to the scanner.

He ended up stripping a piece of wire, stuck it in the antenna connection, and it went to receiving. Haven't heard from him since.
