Hey All,

I purchased a new BCT-8 for the car...leaving the 780xlt in the house. Does anyone know - I assume the Highway Patrol Warning feature in the BCT-8 will not work in Oklahoma since OHP is trunked - correct? I know this used to work with the old conventional systems. Back in the days of 44.700, 155.310 etc.

I really don't know what it's got programmed, but it seems to me it wouldn't take much effort to program the input channels for the different sites in the radio (45 MHz lower). The problem with this is that those channels are shared for some communities where DPS doesn't use them. And other people use DPS, too.

OHP cannot access the trunked system from everywhere, so they use low band and SO.

The "warning" aspect is a non-feature. I hope you did not buy the radio because of that.

The 8's warning works just fine in rural Oklahoma. I get alerts from about 3-5 miles away. The old bc7's had the wrong frequencies installed, but the 8's have the correct info.

As I'm unfortunately lead footed, It's saved my bacon several times here in OK, NM and TX so far. I wouldn't drive without mine.

In the OKC metro area, this "feature" would alert you to the presence of Midwest City dogcatchers and Guthrie municipal workers! Woof!
