I have a BCT15 previously programmed with bctool. Since bctool is no longer compatible with RR I need to change to freescan but the scanner will not accept it as long as the bctool is still programmed. Is there a reset to erase the programming on the BCT15.

Google is your friend:

Let me google that for you

1. Turn Radio Off

2. Press & hold down the following 3 keys;
number 2: number 9 and the Hold button.

3. While pressing and holding the above keys, turn radio on
and then release the keys.

There is no reason that your scanner shouldn't accept Freescan programming due to bcTool programming. Have you tried it?

Precisely correct. All you would need to do is to download the contents of the scanner into FreeScan and work from there. It won't care whether you used ARC, BcTool or any other software previously

best regards..Mike

The freescan will not connect to the scanner nor download any programming done with BcTool.
The scanner works fine with the BcTool.
The freescan works fine with my BR330.

The only reason I can think of that would prevent Freescan from communicating with the scanner would be improper configuration of the serial port. Resetting the scanner is not going to improve things. I used to use bcTool and ARC396 on my 396T and I could switch back and forth at will. There is nothing in the scanner identifying the programs used.

I have a BCT15 and use scancontrol, free scan and BCTool all with no issues downloading or uploading regardless which software did it. Like mentioned before check communication port setting.
