Why do you feel like that ?
If your radio is staying stationary at home then 250 channels would probably be sufficient for the Sarnia area.

I was thinking about the digital aspect and OPP. I know, I should just enjoy what I have for a while -- at last until I actually catch up to date with what I have.

mciupa:

Been trying to program ambulance/Ont. fleet trunking systems but can't seem to get it. Have success in just trying the five plain frequencies that ambo uses, but too often have to lock them out because of extended (and annyoing) interference/data noise. Any suggestions?

TIA

Sounds like you have entered the frequencies as conventional frequencies. Make sure you setup your bank for Motorola Type II trunking, set the bandplan (base, offset & step) and be sure to enter each frequency as a trunked frequency. If you have the manual handy, it should be able to step you thru it nicely.

Okay radiojoe13 , let's get you trunktracking Fleetnet. :)

Press and hold the TRUNK button for a couple of seconds. Use the up or down arrow key to scroll through the trunk types. When you see E2-Hi , press E

Use the up or down key and select bASE ,press E
Select Configuration Block 1 , enter 141.015 , press E
press the up arrow key , for SPC , enter 15 , press E
press the up key and for OFS put in 380
For your area ,I woundn't concern myself with configurations 2 and 3 for now. You may wish to add them later.
Enter your site freq's and push the SEARCH key.
You should be in business now, and I expect to hear about which talkgroups you can hear

Good Luck ! :)

I admit I'm not the sharpest cookie in the jar, so I'm not going to be embarrassed when I keep asking until I get it right. I've done exactly you've outlined, and it was indeed what I had already entered.

Except I can't figure out how the site freq's are to be entereded as a subset of the main trunk configuration.

I've got that configuration as freq 51, the first one in the second bank. Then I put the five local frequencies (i may not be talking the right language, i apologize) as the next five in that bank. So I get interferece/data noise, etc., on one constantly, and on the others sporadically.
I'm seeing nothing in the manually about how to get those freq's in the trunk configuration. I'm sure the scanner is going through the trunk part because I see the M flash (though it is brief, not like when the Edacs one is scanned, which takes a good second or two).
I know I'm missing something, i just hope you can tell me what it is, thanks.

The configuration 1 , does not occupy a channel slot. It is the preparation you must do to trunktrack VHF. Take the 141.015 out of the channel space.
That is about the only thing I see as being incorrect.

Try from scratch again, after you do the BASE ,OFFSET, SPACING ,then enter the five
Site 031-Sarnia freq's . Try SEARCH again.

[shrugs shoulders, wipes sweat and tears from his face]

I am just not getting this one. For some reason I can't get the five freq's in as part of the trunk entry. Will keep working on it, but it's just beyond me right now.

Thanks to all for the help.
