which would be a better mobile scanner for analog conventional frequencies, the bct8 or pro 433?

If being able to see a tag that tells you what you're hearing (alpha tagging) is important to you, then neither fills the bill, since neither radio has this capability. The GRE PSR-400 or Uniden BCT15 (both older models) would be better (and since they've been superceded by newer models, likely as not you could get them at reduced prices), as would the newer PSR-410 and Uniden BCT15X
