BCT8 Fleetnet Truking Problem

I have a BCT8 a friend has left with me to try and figure out.

I am trying to recieve the Whitby Fleetnet site and am less than 10km away.

I believe I have programmed it in correctly (repeated the steps many times), but seem unable to ID SCAN or ID SEARCH.

The display currently illuminates:

TRUNK
M
BANK 1 (Only bank programmed)
PVT

The display channel numbers rapidly change, and SCAN is scrolling across the screen.

If I take it out of trunk mode I hear analog conversations and can lock on the control channel.

Please Help

I have used ARC8 to program it on a trial basis, and am familiar with the setup of ARC software as I use it for my 246T

This seems to suggest that it's not correctly set up for Moto Type II VHF, and/or
the base/offset/step are not set correctly. Not knowing the BCT8, what does
PVT mean?

PVT is for Private Bank Scan, means you are scanning user entered data.

The BCT8 is preprogrammed with US Highwaypatrol Information, and can be useful when in the US, but not so helpful here.

While it's scanning, if you hit the TRUNK button that should turn trunking mode off and the scanner should almost immediately stop on the control channel. That would be the first thing that I would check.... Can you hear the control channel?

I dont believe there is a problem with the Channel listing, i was in Ajax over christmas and got the whitby tower crystal clear and trunking perfectly. I think its your settings, as DaveH said, your base/offset/step are either off or u have something in your trunking mode setup wrong.

Yes, as soon as I come out of trunk mode I recieve the control channel, and lock on to the noise.

I have also entered the Toronto site, Pontypool Site, and have the same issue.

All 3 base/offset/spacings have been entered properly.

It seems it is unable to "trunk" VHF / E2-HI(uniden term) although it is programmed to.

Sometimes I have to hit SVC and then Trunk and it will start to track the system properly if it didn't the first time around. I bought mine over 2 years ago so maybe it is a bug with the earlier versions.
