• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi there, TYT MD-UV390 HH. Can program in the unit, now connecting to PC for programming. Windows 11 desktop. (Core security has been disabled by registry).
Have the ST DFUse drivers 3.06 loaded, the original supplied TYT cable and I can see the "USB Digital Radio" in the control manager under Universal Serial bus device section, when the cable and the radio are all connected and radio is turned on. This looks like normal USB driver availability. "Digital Radio in USB mode".

Then I start the "CPS MD-UV390 V2.39" software which loads just fine. Then I press the "read from radio" and OK, then an error message shows straight away!
This error is "Please check that USB is not occupied or not connected".
Seems like the program is not connecting to the USB port to me.

As an alternative there is a alternative program called "DMR_Codeplug_Editor.exe by G6AMU version 1.1.21.0" which is supposed to work with several DMR radios.
When I load that program, select a new codeplug for the TYT MD-UV390 the radio connect button becomes active. Press this loads a communication module screen.
On that screen there is a lot of options like load codeplug, send codeplug, load firmware, send firmware.
Select Radio is blank but when click in here a UsB device shows up. Seems to me that this is the id of the radio hanging onto the usb cable. However any attempt to read or write comes up with an error message!
I have tried all TYT downloads and their driver for DMR radios.

open failed

So any clues? I am about run out of ideas. Having worked with the small handhelds and the USB to serial cables and the driver problems and fake chips in there problems this one had really got me. Very frustrating.
Open to suggestions guys.

It would be interesting plugging the radio and cable into a Linux computer and then run sudo dmesg. Lots of info would pop up for sure.

I wonder if there might be something similar in Windows CMD or Powershell. Might be worth a search or perhaps a Windows guru will chime in.

Intertesting. Here is the fix.
-----------------------------------------------------
The problem is that STM have 2 completely different DFU drivers for their MCU's
All OS's before Windows 11 seem to load the older / correct drivers, for Windows 11 it installs the new / incompatibe driver
These are the drivers which are compatible.
downloads/drivers/Dfuse_3.0.6_drivers.zip
You can also get the drivers by finding a firmware update package from TYT or Retevis for the radio, however its not easy to find these firmware update packages on either TYT or Retevises websites
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then the driver appeared in the Universal serial bus controllers section as "STM Device in DFU Mode". And not in the "Universal Serial bus devices" section. Now we have read and write capabilities to the Radio.

Just a lot more to learn about in actual programming.
