I know this a uniden forum, but I thought I throw this out there. I cleaned up an old 101, I programed the RR and weather frequencies works good. I put a uhf school bus frequency in and I get a hum on the audio, Could the cap be bad on the audio circuit that filters out dc? VHF no noise.

So, you get good audio on weather and railroad frequencies?

If weather and railroad is working but this school bus frequency doesn't, is it possible that the school bus radio system digital?

I think the uhf processor is quirky, it works. Sounds like a 60hz hum.
This is a very old radio, came out in very early 1975.. I remember in the mid-80s our police used t-band repeaters, the 101 went up to 512 megahertz. At that time the police had a hum and was very shallow sounding, you could barely understand them. I'm sure the 101s who are out there still working have got to have bad capacitors also.
