Best to download a software that can program ur scanner. You get a free trial period on the butel software, it would be enought o get ur scanner setup, and try the different functions of the software and then you can choose to buy or not.

carefull using headphones on the 996t is known to break the internal speaker on this scanner.

It's not the internal speaker that breaks, the phone jack is the real culprit. That's where the connection gets shorted as it's cheap...

Coop most folks use the freeware FreeScan to get started - then if you want you can migrate to ARC996 or ProScan later. You have lost nothing by doing it this way as it's free.

The Front headphone Jack is Weak this is a first heard for me as i didn't know anything about it). What about the Rear Speaker Jack on the Back of the Radio is it the same Way i always used an External on my BC 780 and i have one on my 996 a Radio Shack but i want to get a Uniden one very Soon but thanks for the Info that was put on here..

And i guess i will take even better Care when connecting and Disconnecting to it.. Ra

The entire state of WV digital system is programed into the scanner from the factory. To get you started while the scanner is scanning press (.) 4 5 to turn on Wvirginia wvirp.
