can someone please help me. i just bought a bcd436hp and i cant get bedford county fire or sheriff dept to come in. i can pick up campbell county, franklin county, pittsilvania county, appomatics county, state police and a whole bunch of stuff but no bedford county. i live by smith mountian lake and should get something. can someone please help me get this thing working

Do you have all 12 frequencies for Bedford County programmed? You may be suffering from simulcast distortion. Try turning on the attenuator. Lay the scanner flat and spin it around with the antenna pointing various directions. Move the scanner to different locations.

FYI I am 125 miles from that area and am only making a guess and could be wrong. Based upon your search profile, it appears to me that you are attempting to locate Bedford Co./City as a standalone repeater. Bedford Co./City is one of 4? area users of a trunked radio system i.e., Lynchburg, Amherst Co.,Bedford Co./City and possibly one additional user. Someone knowledgeable monitor can provide you more updated info for installation in your 436 HT.
