Hello. I'm new. Trying to get some scanner advice. I say I'm new; I just joined this organization, and I haven't had a scanner in 24 years. I bought a used Realistic PRO-2001 trying to recapture my youth (I'm 60, just retired), but the scanners of old can't keep up with the radio frequency changes of today. As an example I used to pick up F.D.N.Y. and NJ State Police patrolling the Garden State Parkway but those old 150something channels are not in use anymore. I like to listen to Police-Fire-Railroad-Air and Marine. I'm trying to buy a scanner that will receive both analog and digital (is that even possible?) and trunking. And also be able to do frequency searches. I would like room to scan and store a lot of frequencies, say at least 500. I am NOT technology proficient; I read the reviews of the Uniden BCD996P2 and the Uniden Bearcat Tracker BCT15X relative to programming and they down right scared me, sorry to sound like a wimp. I'm not good with computers, I still have a flip phone and would much prefer to program a scanner using the controls that are physically on the face of the scanner, not having to hookup a U whatever cable to my computer. I don't mind spending $300.00 but I don't want to have to return it cause I can't handle it. Any advice or information or recommendations would be greatfully appreciated. Thank you, Old Fart stuckinthe70's
