A few months ago I stopped being able to hear my hometown PD dispatch. I assumed it was a fault of my scanner but after trying to listen now with a second scanner I'm not hearing anything at all. 453.6 is what they have used previously. Searches still bring this frequency up.

I flipped over to the KC system and found the talkgroup for Belton pd but it also is quiet. If they went digital and encrypted, would I hear static or something when they transmit? What does an encrypted channel sound like? I have a homepatrol-1

Thanks

Belton PD and all other law enforcement agencies in Cass County are encrypted. Uniden scanners automatically mute encrypted garble, so you won't hear anything. All you'll see is "ENC" on the display.

I'm curious why Cass county thinks they need to have everything encrypted. KCMO and Grandview are way worse than anything in Cass and neither of them are encrypted. I wonder who made the call to have the whole county go encrypted. Huge fail on their part if you ask me. Who watches the watchers?
