If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Trying to figure out what the best HT antenna would be for 902/927. First, is using a multi band antenna a compromise vs using a single band antenna? Would using a 900 antenna be better than using 900/GPS antenna if I don’t need GPS? My 3 choices are the 800/900/GPS antenna that comes with the APX4000XH, the 900/GPS antenna that comes with the APX4000, or the old reliable 900 whip with the blue insert. All factory Motorola. 900 needs all the help it can get, & I’m trying to figure out which one is the best.

Buy a ~6" 900MHz antenna for it.

Even then, there probably won't be a whole lot of performance difference between it and a 1/4wave stubby. Handheld antennas are compromised.

Your splitting hairs over a 0dBd gain antenna and a 0dBi gain antenna.

I've got a few 900 band XTS2500s and have swapped between the Motorola 1/4 wave and 6" 1/2 wave whips with little difference in performance. I did notice the 1/4 wave is a little less sensitive to polarity where you can turn the radio sideways with less drops outs than the 1/2 wave. Probably because there should be more RF radiating off the chassis using a 1/4 wave vs center fed 1/2 wave.
