I noticed this week that BCFA is dispatching by station number now, instead of the name of the jurisdiction/community. Does anybody know the numbering scheme? The calls I've noticed are dispatched to Station 1xx (i.e. 145, 108, etc.).

Bexar County Fire Station Number Assignments

As it was explained to me, the necessity to assign county/agency station numbers because under the new regional cad system, there 'can only be 1 (sounds like a line from Highlander) 'Station-1.' Ergo, since SAFD has their station one, and the City of San Antonio is a majority shareholder in this CAD project, SAFD retained their station numbers. The County/'outside agencies' were given station numbers starting with 101 on up.

To make matters worse for the dispatchers, the code writers couldn't fathom the concept of station tag aliasing, so they strayed from the incident command system verbal ID of the responding asset and gave it a cad-only friendly numerical tag.

Another challenge for the Dispatchers is tracking individual apparatus status, (i,e. en route, on location, clear scene, available, at quarters) for each unit, VERBALLY and WITHOUT THE USE OF MDTs, which makes no difference on the SAFD side, but for the county dispatchers, who must now toggle and scroll through pages of new unit/station identifiers to maintain status.

Now here is the breakdown of the new station numbers. I don't have the other info available yet, but it should become pretty clear after listening for a little while what the rest means.

scrot,

Thanks for the great info on the new station numbers. This info should definitely be incorporated in to the Bexar County Wiki. When I have time I will, if it hasn't been done yet.
