Hi, I am reading a copy of Bill Cheeks Ultimate Scanner Book number 3. Starting on page 216 there is a spreadsheet for a VHF-UHF propagation (basically a Line of sight) solution. Does anyone have a copy of the spreadsheet by any chance? I am wanting to receive several VHF repeaters several counties away. I have the FCC license data for the location and heights of what I want to receive, but I am wanting to use the spreadsheet to check what will be required on my end, before I possibly invest in a tower, preamp etc to see if its feasable before I spend the $$ and then find out I can't still receive what I am hoping to.

Thank you

Richard

Search for "line of sight calculator" or "radio range calculator".
There are several web sites with those.

There is also RF path prediction software like
and

There is no way to guarantee that you can recieve anything based on location.

True about the no guarantee. It helps get a general idea though. I went and found a GE radio calculation slide rule made in 1952 that a deceased friend gave me many years when we were both radio technicians with the City of Norfolk. He had owned a 2 way radio shop before I was born, and sold it and later became a radio tech for the city radio shop. He gave me the slide rule knowing I was a ham and would use it. Thanks for the information
