I have been reading all the exciting posts by the folks taking advantage of the Radioshack Black Friday sales and have felt "left out" since I already have a Pro-106. Then I checked out the BuTel software site and lo and behold, I found out they have some of their software on sale for Friday and Saturday only.....my lucky day!

I did a Paypal purchase for a registration key to the basic version of ARC500 for $19.95, normally $39.xx. So now I get to join the festivities and end up with something I can actually use!

In a more serious vain, this could be a nice addition for some of you who just purchased new scanners. For reference, ARC500 also works with the Pro-197, PSR-500 and PSR-600 and as mentioned in the title, they also have some of their other products on sale. I also checked out the WIN500 and PSREdit sites, but I could not find any specials there.

Thanks for the heads up. I have ordered the pro-197, so perhaps I will get that software. Frankly, this is one part of this hobby that I don't find enjoyable. It is not laziness, I just don't have much patience to sit there and analyze various software programs- especially when I really don't know what I am trying to figure out! Maybe when I retire and have more free time I will get into such activities, but right now I don't have the time, patience or the interest in sitting around and breaking down various software programs to determine which best meets my needs.

So, I do thank you for the suggestion and the heads up about this particular deal. Have a nice weekend.

Oh and now I'll know who to ask if I have questions when I download it. ;-)

Black Friday dsale

I got it less -$100 as well. I have had the PRO-2016 for years which I enjoy. I wanted to upgrade. Now I'm having the challenge of the learning curve to receive and program for the digital trunking. I haven't learned to save standard transmissions yet as well. This hobby is taking my precious reading time away.

Oh well.

Glad I could help. Since your signature says you have "too many" scanners, your needs may be similar to mine. I already have my frequencies in a FreeScan file so I wanted something that could import a CSV file output by FreeScan. Both PSREdit and ARC500 can do this (but in different ways). Per the WIN500 website, that feature is planned for the future. The other requirement is the ablility to Export the Pro-106 frequencies to a CSV file. I want this so I can print a frequency scan list from a spreadsheet and so I will be able to ultimately import the frequencies into the next generation scanner which I suspect I will most likely end up buying! ARC500 has an export function but PSREdit does not. So, with that and the special price, I went with Gommert's product. I have another one of his programs and he was very open to adding a feature.

As far as me helping on questions, I am sure it will give Gommert some amusing moments!

I extended the sale since some people missed it, enjoy.
