Noticed this gadget and looked up the manual on the manufacturers website. I think this would work for pairing to a bluetooth GPS reciever for a 996 or 15. You would pair it up while hooked to your computer and then it would hook up automatically after that while just plugged into the scanner. You would need to put in an LM317 or something to provide correct voltage to pin 9 like I saw somebody's details of in another forum.

Any opinions, besides the obvious, it is a bit pricey.

I send RS-232 to the laptop wirelessly with a couple programs. However, this method means you use two computers, one with a com port and then your laptop.

Love to build one of those Bluetooth serial adapters.

Not sure whether you were saying you think it will work, you think it won't work, or neither.

The manual for the device states that it will pair with phones, PDA's etc. and can be used on devices other than computers after you do the pairing/configuring process while hooked to your computer. My Bluetooth
GPS shows up on my computer as "BT-GPS Comm Port" when it connects and you actually have to select in the software you are using the number of port that gets assigned to that "BT-GPS Comm Port".

Doesn't seem like a stretch that it "should" work.

Can you think of any reason why it would not?

No, I wasn't implying that I thoughtanything would work or not. What I said was I have my own solution. My solution uses two computers... "However, this method means you use two computers, " That's all.

The bluetooth node looks cool.
