• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

What is best option? Otto seems to use an adapter instead of radios BT. I run VP8000, NX5000 series and also APX. It would be nice to run on all of them but not required. Ive used the Moto version and like it but I assume it won’t pair with EFJ/Kenwood (Don’t own one, never tried).

I've used an AINA VR Bluetooth mic with VP6000s. It uses the radio's internal Bluetooth. Overall the mic is decent, build quality is good and so is the number of programmable keys. Receive audio isn't so good, it almost sounds like too low of a sampling rate is used.

Not familiar with brand. I’ll look it up when I settle. Just returned from emcomm exercise where they had us running all over the mountains. I always needed 2 or more radios and getting tangled up in cords got old fast. Usually I run a kifaru small pack with radio pouches PAL‘d to it. This time I needed to be constantly changing frequencies which was hard with radio on my back. Fire guys had straps which for the first time I saw utility even when not wearing turnout gear (I always assumed you had to be a fireman to possess one). For this fast moving run and gun I think I’ll need to go to a chest rig (2 radio or more) hopefully lighter and less bulky than a plate carrier! We had teams up from Alabama that looked and moved like Army Rangers running Harris and Barrett radios, 106’ mob tower, PSAPS, SAT and everything you could imagine. I was the oldest person present and I felt it. I need to run lighter and tighter than I am now.

Not sure which Otto model you are referring to, but Otto does have a BT mic which will work with the radio's built-in BT. Good luck.
I have tried the Otto BT for over a year sent it back twice, it is not public safety rated, does not pair regularly, I am using a VP8000, finally gave up sent it back. Anybody using a Pryme BT mic?

I have tried to pair earbuds with the vp8000 with limited success. I have good luck with the Moto apx 4000 & 6000. I listen more than talk. The earbuds work great in high noise environments with the motos, would love to get it working with the vp8000. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
