Thank you for your compliment. Malta has the same climate like Los Angeles however we have a sea around us but California has ocean currents more powerful. California is also on a tectonic plate so it is very dangerous to live on such a shifting landmass. Between May and October is does not rain so we turn seawater into water by reverse osmosis. The water is not good for consumption: it is too heavy: it is 1200ppm. We use the water for laundry and cleaning. The water is not good for vegetation either. We live on a rock and try to survive.
If I put the antenna on the white box, is it ok? See photo.

It would be an improvement.

But there will still be some issues being that close to the steel pole. Might make it a bit directional.

Ideally you want the antenna in the clear and at least a few feet from the mast. If you can install a second mast and put the antenna on top, that would help.
Other option is to get a steel baking sheet and stick the antenna on that. Then place the baking sheet on the wall.

Good start.
The antenna you are using is designed to attach to the top of a vehicle. The metal roof of the car would provide the ground plane under the antenna.

The antenna will work just attached to the top of a non-conductive pole, but it will work better with a ground plane underneath it. That ground plane wants to be a horizontal conductive plane. The baking sheet would work. Or, 3 wires 120º apart under the antenna and part of the coax shield.

You could give it a try without, just attached to the pole, if it works well enough, then leave it as is.
