Good afternoon everyone! First off, thank you for your help.

I've had this BCT15 for many years now. It mainly sat on the desk with the stock back of set antenna. I installed it in my truck and when I connected the coax I noticed that it had to be positioned in a certain way for the scanner to receive any signals. (Easy to see when you're monitoring a trunked system..) Eventually I got tired of having to play with the coax and removed it from the truck and back to the desk it went. Plugging the stock telescoping antenna back on it, I noticed it wasn't getting any signal still. So I would move the antenna around to the left or right 45 degrees until I found the sweet spot on the jack...then it would function perfectly. Thinking that this antenna had somehow screwed up the inside of the BNC jack I figured it needed replacement, because when the antenna was set fine, it would work amazingly well.

So I bought a replacement BNC from Frys. Went about unsoldering the old one. New one went in without any major issues. Check continuity on everything, and its nice and solid....but it still doesn't have any receive. It's deaf. Not sure what the hell is wrong now.
I've tried multiple antennas.

Here is a picture of the finished results..

If you have any ideas or suggestions, please let me know.

Not really worth it to send it to Uniden for them to repair. Price of them fixing it and shipping both ways is the cost of this thing altogether.

Measure the DC resistance from BNC center pin to ground. It should not be a short circuit. You may see a reading from protection diodes and a resistor of around 1K Ohm. If it is shorted the cable may have melted during the rework to replace the BNC jack.

Inside the radio clip an 18 inch wire to the BNC center pin and try to receive NOAA Weather radio or any very active VHF-HI station. If that works, the BNC jack center pin may need adjusted as in the picture.

Resistance measures 517.

I did have to strip a tad bit more and resolder the tiny coax back to the center pin, as I was checking things I tore the wire from the joint...oops.

Continuity is still good.
