Bought new toy today!!

I know you guys may be wondering, what the heck....but I bought a Radio Shack Pro-97 today. I bought it off of eBay. It is brand new and cost $125.99 with shipping. I didn't think that was a bad price. It says it comes with a belt clip, 6" flexible rubber antenna, two battery cases, owner's guide, quick start guide, and preprogrammed frequency addendum. I assume that that’s what they come with at Radio Shack? I'm excited to be getting it.

I tend to think I'm pretty smart and will be able to figure out how to program it and everything else. I hope you guys will help me if I need it. If anyone has any tips they want to go ahead and throw out, PLEASE DO!!! Thanks in advance.

I live in Northern Kentucky and if anyone lives in Northern Kentucky, please tell me this. Can I listen to Cincinnati Police and Fire with this scanner? What about the Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati airport, and the Kentucky State Police?

Anyone recommend any special accessories?

Any help from yall will be great.

The best software to program is Win97 and you can get it from here.

It is free for 30 days, try it and you will not let it go.

Congrats on your purchase. I would recommened a programming cable, and after you receive your scanner download Win97 programming software. You get to use it for 30 day trial, it makes programming a breeze. If you are happy with it, you can pay a modest fee and get a registration key that gives you permanent access to the software. In reference to the Kentucky State Police, you will not be able to listen to them. They are Uhf Digital and sadly the 97 won't get the digital. My brother has one and lives in Jeffersonville. He can't listen to Jeff PD or ISP due to not being digital. They are good scanners though...
