I'm trying to find out what is the best software for the BR330T. I realize it comes with free software from Uniden. I'd like to be able to program the scanner (enter and organize/group frequencies) but also monitor what frequencies the scanner stops on on and even record the audio if that's all possible in one software package. I've heard Buetel will do all of this but I can't find any info on it on RReference. Any opinions out there? Also where can I find info on Buetel?

Thanks

I don't have terribly complex local systems (no trunking). I want to group and organize so I can turn on/off different groups (again not too complex). For this I think the Uniden free software will work great.

That leaves me with the tracking sort of stuff. It would be nice to be able to track frequency hits, i.e. have a log of what frequencies the scanner stopped on when I was not here. It would be even nicer to have a sound recording of that hit also. I see ARC330 Pro is $70 and only pro seems to do both of these (logging and recording). I also see thatScanRec records the audio but does not log the frequency it was on (not until ScanRec Pro some time in the future).

If I program the scanner using the Uniden Software for the 330 is there a software package that JUST logs the frequency hits and records the audio or just logs the frequency hits?

Fuzzy, just an fyi for you. There's a typo in the BR330T documentation. The Uniden software is not actually free, other than the limited function 'demo' version. To unlock the full capabilities, you'll have to purchase a software key ($29.95). UPMan clarified that in another thread (don't remember which one, may be the original 330 thread).

That's correct. Free on the 396, but not on the 330 (or the 246). When I got my 330, I could drag & drop my 396 system files into the 330 software without having to recreate them from scratch or by using cut & paste. A real time saver for me.

IIRC, ACS logs but doesn't record (it's been a long time since I ran it). ScanRec records but doesn't log. But the two, running together (one connects to the earphonejack, the other to the serial port), record and log (and control) for free.

Anyone have a link to IIRC ACS..I can't seem to find anything on here?

Anyone know of the Butel software will do as good or better a job of basic programming for my BR330T as the Uniden Software?

It would appear that the Advanced Scanner cntl software does both log and audio recording; it would be interesting to see if it supports the 330. as it does with the 246 (and maybe the 230, too....). That program had attracted a lot of very positive comments in the past. 73s Mike

Yes I just re-read that. I wish it was specifically designed for the 330. I'd be interested to hear the results if anyone is using it to program their 330 scanner AND track frequencies and audio. ANyone?

Does anyone know if the Butel ARC330 Pro works well for programming the 330 scanner as well as tracking frequencies and audio? Any 330 users out there using it??

It seems to me that if I have to pay $30 for the Uniden software I may as well go the extra $30 and get the Butel capabilities ASSUMING it is as good at programming the 330 as the UniDen software is?

Opinions or actual users of some of these packages on a 330 would be great? What are the current 330 users out there using and how do you like it???

Try the Uniden s/w (the demo mode is free). Try ASC - it's free. I believe the Butel s/w also has a demo mode.
Then decide which is worth what to you. Why guess, or depend on others? What works perfectly for me may be terrible for you.

Good advice...actually I have both the Uniden UASD software for the BR330T and the ARC330PRO software installed (I didn't want to try ASC since it isn't specifically setup for the 330T without hearing from someone who had tried it). Problem is I'm fairly new to all of this, I still have to learn dynamic memory concepts, I don't have my 330 yet and I'm more of a hands-on learner. It's very hard to say which is best for me at this point so I thought collecting some opinions from 330 users would help. I thought perhaps some users would say one or the other does this well or does this poorly...I don't have any trunking or digital in my area but I do have an organizational setup in mind. Both packages seem to do that frequency grouping organization well, although the Uniden software looks much more polished but simple and the Butel looks a little less polished but more robust. Also it's very hard to know what features are missing in my "trial" versions. I've read the Uniden owners manual on-line for the 330 scanner but again until I can get "hands-on" it's hard to understand which software is best for me...so again I thought opinions would help.

Any 330 users out there using any of these software packages?

It looks nice...I just wich they had a free product for the 330 or some user experience from someone with a 330 actively using the 396 version.

I did check with scannerbase and they said they had one customer using it with a 330 but they want more users to try it to confirm if it works or not.
