Recently, Brantford Fire has been dispatching for County of Brant Fire in addition to the county dispatch, as the Next Generation 911 requirement is set to take effect in 2025. I found an article from May 2024 on this topic. They have been switching between Brantford Fire and County Fire dispatch lately in preparation for this change which I am guessing involves equipment and other things.

The changes come into effect on July 1st, 2024.

County of Brant Fire dispatch was DMR RID: 3000
Brantford Fire Dispatch is DMR RID: 2200

This a new agreement, the County of Brant have their own dispatch centre, it used to be in the OPP detachment (the old Paris Police office), I think they did make the move to the new detachment. So this will be interesting to see/hear the transition to Brantford Fire dispatching them now.

I would think that Brantford Fire will have to add some equipment as they use an 800 mhz trucked system while Brant County use a mix of conventional VHF and DMR .

Good catch and good read. The City was dispatching all day yesterday on DMR Rid 2200.
The city have always maintained a link with the county on their 800 system on Talk group 512.
They used to test every Sunday morning. The city also provides dispatch services to the Six Nations Fire as well.

I did a little TAFL dip to see what Brant County has for licenses.
These are the high elevation repeater sites across the county.

They have two repeater frequencies across the county, reused at 4 repeater sites.
It appears that Brantford City Fire has a wireline controlled base station at the Brantford Water Tower on the Rpt B frequency.

To page out a station Brantford City would transmit from the Water Tower on 154.415
One or more of the 4 RPT B repeaters would key up and retransmit the page to the firefighters.

Middleport - Pauline Johnston Rd. - Internet Tower
Rpt A - TX 152.780 / RX 154.635 68m
Rpt B - TX 153.845 / RX 154.415 68m

Scotland - Elliott Rd - Cell Tower.
Rpt A - TX 152.780 / RX 154.635 69m
Rpt B - TX 153.845 / RX 154.415 69m

Burford - Potter Rd - Community Center Cell Tower
Rpt A - TX 152.780 / RX 154.635 42m
Rpt B - TX 153.845 / RX 154.415 42m

Paris - Paris Rd - Poultry Farm Cell Tower
Rpt A - TX 152.780 / RX 154.635 79m
Rpt B - TX 153.845 / RX 154.415 89m

City of Brantford - Water Tower (403 & King George)
Rpt #B Reverse - TX 154.415 / RX 153.845 60m (Control station to reach the County repeaters)

Question: What sort of pagers are Brant County using? Two-Tone FM or DMR Unication?

They are toned out on 153.845 using two-tone paging. Fire scene operations are on 152.780 DMR.

So the 153.845 frequency operates as FM, with two-tone and voice?
That sort of makes sense as two-tone is not terribly sensitive to simulcast delay and audio phase.

And for DMR comms, are all 4 repeaters on the same Colour Code? Talkgroup ID?
I see no licenses for links, so they appear to be stand alone repeaters and would need either different CC or TGIDs so that all 4 repeaters do not key up simultaneously for voice comms.

Great, please tell us what you are receiving? FM, DMR, Colour code, talkgroup etc.

True same-frequency Simulcast DMR is very very rare. It's possible, but it's like 1% of DMR systems.

153.845 - FM with CTCSS of 114.8 - Two-Tone paging (I have not observed any DMR on this frequency)
152.780 - DMR Conventional - CC 9
Known Talkgroups: TG: 45 / Timeslot 2 - CBFD Fire Ops 1
