NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - The Noblesville Fire Department said gas has been restored to homes that were cut off after a gas main break Thursday morning.

Just before noon a six inch gas main ruptured near 169th and Hazel Dell Road. Gas service was shut off to about 30 homes.

The fire department released a statement saying that Vectren employees are visiting the affected homes and assisting them with turning their gas back on.

Looks like news to me...

Funny, no one mentioned the two they hit the past two days as well...... like I said, it's pretty much a daily thing in Hamilton Co.

They sent one from Indy too. The Rushville base states Indy tower on their traffic. I think it was unit 3 or 4 that was sent. That was about 1:00am

Oxygen bottles were exploding in the garage and house where the fire started. Fishers, Wayne Twp. and Cicero Fire responded with mutual aid. Just before this incident, there was an apartment fire on Allisonville Rd. on the south side of Noblesville. Every fire apparatus in the city was in use.

The fire spread so fast that the residence was fully engulfed when the first engine arrived, and it was less than a mile away from the station.

Apparently, the resident of the house where the fire started used oxygen for medical purposes and was transported to a hospital during the fire so the person could stay on oxygen. Interestingly, when WTHR 13 mentioned the oxygen tank problem, the camera was focused on a propane tank like those used for gas grills.

I believe an adjacent house was damaged, too. Seems to be a problem in these "vinyl villages". A fire in one house causes collateral damage to adjacent houses because the heat of the fire melts the siding. Similar problem happened in Brownsburg a couple of weeks ago. Makes me glad the house I'm building will have fiber cement siding rather than vinyl.

Yes, an adjacent house was on fire when they got there and there was some damage (melted vinyl) to yet at least two other houses. Last night it wasn't clear how much the second house was damaged from the fire. According to WIBC the second house was destroyed also. They did mention a propane tank but I had not heard that it exploded. I know they wanted to get water on it right away.
