ISP Raid on Meth Lap about to go down... 1:20pm EST

ISP SZ SPU talkgroup on SAFE-T, about to raid a meth lab. I just heard them talking about running up on an old pole barn, with a hummer full of police, snipers, shield guys, and cameras.

In Scott County, pictures Channel 41 news.
My personal opinion on this type of stuff is wait until it is over, plus this is not an encrypted group yet... but it could easily done, so discretion on what is posted and when to do so, I think is the best route to follow.

I agree, I thought about it after the fact, and realized that its probably a good idea to not post that kind of info on the web until after its done. I just got excited about hearing some real action about to go down.

Hard not to get excited when you hear those types of calls...I had one here in Terre Haute a few weeks ago, I waited until the op was almost over before I posted info bout it, I also PULLED my on-line feed to protect the Operation as it was happening..same thought ran across my mind, I don't want to help the BAD guys out!!! after it was over I put the feed back up for the final clean up of the Ops.

Good idea not to talk about it until afterwards. Some agree and some disagree. Some things you just need to keep to yourself EVEN though this is a scanner radio site. It's just giving them more reason to encript the talkgroups. Now action on new tg's maybe is a different thing. Submit it to the proper Admin. I would think that by now everyone would have the ISP tg's in there radios anyways.

Police: Alcohol played part in wrong-way driver’s death

Terre Haute News, Terre Haute, Indiana- TribStar.com - Police: Alcohol played part in wrong-way driver’s death
The Tribune-Star

Alcohol was a factor in a fatal accident early Tuesday that claimed the life of a Terre Haute man who drove the wrong way onto I-70, according to Illinois State Police.

This person almost killed me the other morning as I was the first driver to spot him coming down the Interstate est. at 70+mph

A standoff between police and a suspected shooter ends peacefully.

It started late Thursday afternoon, when police began chasing a car on Terre Haute's east side. The driver had been reportedly firing shots out of the window.

The chase ended in the Terra Vista subdivision, when the driver ditched the car, and ran into a home.

Power outage knocks out Vigo 911 central dispatch for about an hour

TERRE HAUTE — A power outage in Terre Haute shut down electrical service at Vigo County central dispatch for approximately an hour Monday night.

At least one power transformer apparently exploded Monday evening, cutting power to the Sheriff’s Department, where central dispatch is housed, said Sheriff Jon Marvel. An backup generator kicked on and powered most of the lights and other equipment at the jail, “but it did not repower 911,” he said.

There is also a backup battery system, “but, for some reason, it failed to kick on,” Marvel said.

The story falls short of explaining how there were no dispatches for Vigo Co, Vigo Vol Fire Depts or TH Fire...ISU was able to relay to City officers because ISU is on EDACS also so they had the means to keep City officers in the loop. However, calls started overflowing to Parke County and they had no idea what to do...it took almost 40 mins to get portables into Central Dispatch

Things such as this actually happen more often than people think, it just doesn't make the news. It took us several attempts to convince our dispatch in Newton County that when the radio room goes down, for whatever reason, they needed to have a contingency plan. Not until they had two situations just weeks apart that took paging capabilities down did they understand this. It was not uncommon for me to hear radio traffic to the officers that the fire/ems paging was down, but to not be notified officially as fire chief as to what was going on or how they were going to notify us of a fire. They would call the medics and tell them that they would call them and to use the sheriff's frequency. Then when I would call, they'd tell me to do the same...like I could just change the frequency in my pager to something totally different. No concept at all... It's usually the vol. fire departments that get left out when these things happen, and many times they don't even know it's going on.

Whether they do it or not, I'm not sure, but we do have protocols in place that they are to call the chief or assistant chief in the event of an outage and we are to have our own contingency in place, such as mass texting in our case.

Anyone listening in during the outage time heard some pretty interesting stuff, at least I did. It was clear that there didn't seem to be a definite backup plan because you are correct, radio dispatching for Vigo County Fire and Sheriff ceased during this time. Not sure about TH Fire though, I thought they made a dispatch during this time, but I might be wrong.

So they have a backup power system that doesn't work, no portables on hand, and no contingency plan. Beautiful.
